In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in a field of language study.
  4. Must be a current college student at time of application.

Description: This award is offered by the Klingon Language Institute (KLI) to encourage undergraduate and graduate students in fields of language study. Familiarity with Klingon or other constructed languages is not required; however, creative and innovative applicants are preferred.

Application requirements for the Kor Memorial Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Familiarity with Klingon or other constructed languages is not required; however, creative and innovative applicants are preferred. Nominees must show evidence of academic accomplishment and enjoy the high regard and respect of their supervising faculty. Final determination is reached by a committee made up of the KLI Director and a changing selection of qualified language specialists. Formal announcement of each year's recipient is made at the annual conference of the KLI, the qep'a'.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

The Klingon Language Institute (KLI) website contains all the information necessary for completing the scholarship application process. The institute will not respond to requests for more information, additional scholarship details, or application forms. Everything the applicant needs is on the website. Each student must be nominated for the award. The nomination must be in the form of a letter from the student's department chair, head, or dean profiling the individual's relevant accomplishments and his/her potential or expected achievements. In addition to the nomination letter, each nominee must submit the following materials: two additional letters of recommendation from departmental faculty members; a brief statement from the nominee regarding his/her goals and purpose with respect to the selected course of study; and a resume or curriculum vitae highlighting the nominee's education, experience, awards, community service, and references. Each department head/dean may submit only one undergraduate and one graduate nomination for consideration per award year. All materials must be received by the deadline date and sent to the address provided. Incomplete applications will be discarded without consideration.
