Mikeria - 06/08/2018

My personal experience at DCAD is that it is an okay school when it comes to preparing it students for transfer. Some of the teachers are really dedicated in teaching and improving their students to create artwork at a professional level. However this experience all depends on the major and track you decide to take. Some professors only help out the students that are already creating top notch art work and ignoring those that actually need creative help. The small classroom sizes are a plus and allow for one on one time with the professors. Begin a small school, DCAD is lacking socially and the location of the school is a bit sketchy with people breaking into student cars a lot of the time. A lot of the students there can be pretentious, but there are also an array of students to make friends with. I believe this school is for students who are almost new to the fact that they want art to be a serious career track this school prepares you to create a good looking portfolio and helps with finding your art style. The cafeteria food there is awful however with many students opting to buy food elsewhere or only eating snacks as the food made gets repetitive throughout the year. One instance I was served raw meat and another instance my friend ate food that was moldy.
